Here we go again! Lots of travelling all around the country! Cologne is towards the north west, Nuremberg towards the south east, with Frankfurt fairly central. Then if you get beyond the first round stage, it could mean travelling way out east to Berlin, down south to Stuttgart or Munich again, or into the Ruhrgebeit to Gelsenkirchen or Dortmund.
For the group mathces alone, Frankfurt is the most central place to be based, however Cologne would leave you close to Dortmund or Gelsenkirchen, and Nuremberg is not far from Munich, and offers cheap flight connections with Air Berlin to all of the other cities (using Dortmund airport for Gelsenkirchen).

Berlin to Kaiserslautern is over 400 miles! What were the FIFA schedule planners thinking of?!! Oh well, for the group games, the obvious place to base yourself is Frankfurt - only an hour or so from Kaiserslautern and with good - if not short - connections by road, rail or air to Berlin.
Stuttgart is not too far from Frankfurt, either, but the other venues for later games - Gelsenkirchen, Dortmund and Munich are all a good hike from any of the first round cities. Of course, if you think your team will come second in the group and go on to the final, Berlin might work!

Another well spread group. Dortmund is up in the central north west, Nuremberg down in Bavaria in the south east, and Kaiserslautern near the French border in the south west.
For the group stage alone, you can take your pick! Thinking of the later games, then Dortmund or Nuremberg come in for consideration, as Dortmund would be near to Gelsenkirchen and Nuremberg is not far from Munich.

At last a group with two venues that are relatively close together! Dortmund and Cologne are only 60 miles apart - albeit it's around 350 miles to Munich!
With a potential later game in Gelsenkirchen or back in Dortmund, it means either Dortmund or Cologne would make a decent base. Berlin, too, could work if you're feeling optimistic about your team's chances!

Third-placed play-off: If you're bothered, it's in Stuttgart!
