The control tower at Leipzig-Halle

Two 'local' airports
Leipzig is served be two airports.  The main one is called Leipzig Halle.  As the name suggests, it also serves the town of Halle, which lies to the north west of Leipzig.

The second airport or relevance to Leipzig is at a place called Nobitz, about one hour's drive south of Leipzig.  Ryanair call this airport Leipzig Altenburg and use it for all their flights to and from this region.

World Cup connections
In World Cup terms, Leipzig Halle offers direct flights to and from 7 of the other venues: Nuremberg (withAir Berlin), Hamburg and Cologne (Cirrus), Dortmund (LGW), Munich (Lufthansa &Air Berlin), Frankfurt (Lufthansa ) and Stuttgart (with various airlines).

International connections
While Leipzig Altenburg is essentially just a landing strip for Ryanair, Leipzig Halle is a full-blown international airport with flights to and from many other parts of Europe.  Air Berlin, for instance, fly in from London Stansted, Air France from Paris and KLM from Amsterdam.
