Walking to the
ground The AWD Arena is near enough to the city centre to walk to
it. The route from the square in front of the main railway station (left),
for instance, was well signposted for the summer 2005 Confederations Cup and
will no doubt be equally well marked for the World Cup. |
You head down the
pedestrianised Bahnhofstrasse (below right), carry on into Karmarschstrasse,
bear left into Culemannstrasse and right to |
|
|
|
the stadium when you reach
Arthur Menge Ufer. The distance is just under a mile as the crow flies
(see city centre map).
Getting there by
public transport You can also take the Stadtbahn, Hanover's mixed network of trams and
underground trains. |
|
|
|
|
|
From the main railway
station take undergound train no. 3, 7 or 9 for Wettbergen,
Wallensteinstrasse or Empelde respectively.
Get out
at 'Waterloo'. The journey time is all of 3
minutes. It's then 5 minutes on foot to the stadium (see also local map and layout of the arena complex).

You can be sure that
there will be dozens of services running on match days, and your match ticket
covers your fare (see your ticket for full details - normally from about 4 hours
before the game and for a similar period afterwards). If you are
approaching on lines 3 or 7 from the opposite direction, you can also get off at
Stadionbruecke (Stadium Bridge) - see arena
map. |
