You can get to the ground by walking from the square in front of the main railway station down to Arthur Menge Ufer (click to enlarge).

To get your bearings, note on the plan above the Schützenplatz car park and below it the Arthur Menge Ufer, both of which you can see at the bottom of the map at the top of this page.  If you cast your eye up from the Schützenplatz on the map, you can just see the 'U' for underground and 'Waterloo', the stop you get out at if coming from the city centre.  On the left of the plan above you'll see 'Stadionbrücke', the 'stadium bridge' that gives the nearby tram stop its name.
