Ah, very sorry!  Surely you wanted to find out about Munich's fine art galleries or museums ... the Alte Pinakothek website is here ... or were you really looking for:

The Hofbräuhaus
Munich's most popular attraction!  In the world famous Hofbräuhaus's great hall, side rooms, restaurants and beer garden, around 10,000
litres of beer are served every day!

Sit downstairs if you can get in
Expect queues to get in at popular times, so try to get there early in the evening.  If not, you may have to make do
with one of the upstairs rooms, but for the best atmosphere try to get into the main hall downstairs. Seating is on
benches at long wooden tables.  Just find a spare seat and you'll soon be toasting your new-found friends!

Beer by the litre
Oh, and don't complain if your 'Mass' (litre glass) of beer looks like a short measure because of the huge head ... that's the way it's served, and by the time you've had two or three, you'll be way past caring anyway ... and singing along to 'Fat Fritz's Band' (well, looking at the size of them, that might be the band's name!).

The Hofbräuhaus is a 100 yards or so from Marienplatz.  Open 9am to 11.30pm daily (click any of the images to enlarge - the photo below shows the view that greets you as enter through the main door).

Other beer halls
There are, of course, several other substantial beer halls in Munich.  One of our favourite is the Augustinerbräu, which
according to documentary evidence is the oldest brewery in Munich, dating from 1328.  It's a bit less touristy than the Hofbräuhaus, with the same cavernous feel, great food and lots of beer!  It's at 27 Neuhauser Strasse (about half-way between the railway station and Marienplatz, straight down the pedestrianised route).
