Berlin has 3 airports.
Tegel
If you fly to Berlin on a major scheduled flight from Western Europe you will probably arrive at Tegel about 5 miles (8km) north-west of the city centre.
Schönefeld
If you fly with a low-cost airline, such as EasyJet, you will almost certainly land at Schönefeld, formerly East Germany's principal airport, about 11 miles (18km) from the centre of the city.
Tempelhof
Tempelhof, just 2.5 miles (4km) from the middle of Berlin (Mitte) is largely used for short-haul domestic flights.
Berlin Brandenberg International
Schönefeld is destined to become ‘Berlin Brandenberg International’, the city’s main airport, by 2010.
As part of this redevelopment of Berlin’s airports, Tempelhof will have closed by the time of the World Cup and Tegel is due to close in 2007.
