Cologne : City

Germany's fourth largest city, famous around the globe for its landmark World Heritage cathedral.

A city of exuberant merry-making at Carnival time, Kölsch beer and Eau de Cologne... oh, and that stunning cathedral too!  This page tells you more...

Colgone - Sights
Cologne's two main tourist attractions are located right next to each other, a stone's throw from the Rhine and the main railway station.  The cathedral and Römisch-Germanische Museum (Roman-Germanic Museum) are both in the heart of the old city, on a large pedestrianised plaza.

Cologne by air
If you're flying into Cologne, the obvious airport to use is 'Cologne-Bonn' located to the south-east of the city, serving both Cologne and the former German capital of Bonn.  For more information, and details of airlines flying into and out of the airport, check out this article.

Cologne by rail
With direct rail links to 9 of the other 11 World Cup venues and being just a 5-hour train ride away from London, Cologne is well worth considering as a base if you plan to travel around by rail.  More details and information on train times to other venues can be found on this page.

Cologne by road
Just 40 miles from the Belgian border, Cologne could be a good first World Cup destination for you if you're taking your car to Germany via any of the French, Belgian or Dutch ports.  Onward travel to some of the other venues will also involve only relatively short journeys.

Cologne's fan park
Big screen viewing facilities will be provided within Cologne's pedestrianised inner city area, rather than in out-of-town parkland.  The entire town centre will be staging one big football party.
