The stadium from Friedrich Ebert Strasse

Leipzig's Central Stadium is just that - central!  You can walk to the ground in around 20 minutes from the railway station and 15 minutes from the pedestrianised city centre.

By road
You are likely to approach Leipzig on either the A14 or A9 motorways.  Directions from the motorway to the ground are as follows.

From the A9 motorway
Leave the A9 at the 'Leipzig Günthersdorf' exit and follow signs for the city centre (Innenstadt or Zentrum).
Follow Merseburger Strasse for 7km, then turn left into Lützner Strasse.
In due course follow the road to the right into Jahnallee.
Follow Jahnalle straight on towards the city centre.
You will see the stadium on your left.

From the A14 motorway
Leave the A14 at the 'Leipzig Mitte' exit and follow the B2 towards the city centre (Innenstadt or Zentrum).
At the junction with Berliner Strasse, turn right.
Follow Berliner Strasse until you reach Gerberstrasse.  Turn left.
Take the 2nd right onto the inner ring, which soon becomes Jahnallee.
Follow Jahnallee until you see the stadium on the right.

Check out also our route planner.

Parking
There is no car parking at the stadium on match days.  However, there is paid-for parking available within walking distance of the ground to the south of the Jahnalle in the Clara Zetkin park.  The city also operates a park and ride system from 7 other car parks.  To use these, follow the P+R signs..
Take tram 3, 8 or 15 to the ground

By public transport
Trams run up and down Jahnallee, passing within 50 yards of the stadium.  Lines 3, 8 and 15 run from the main railway station to the stadium.  The ride takes just 11 minutes and the cost is included in the price of your match ticket (for travel to and from the ground on the day).

Leipzig, Hbf

To:

Leipzig, Sportforum

("Hbf" is the standard abbreviation for Hauptbahnhof = main station)

On foot
When we checked out Leipzig in February 2005, we did a lot of walking!  The ground here is not as close to the railway station as, say, in Kaiserslautern, where the distance between the two is under half a mile, but it's an easy enough walk that shouldn't take you more than 20 minutes.  From the road with most of the bars - Barfussgässchen - it should take a bit less ... around 15 minutes
