Frankfurt - At the centre of Germany
 |
| Frankfurt's location in Germany |
Frankfurt is the largest city in the central German state of Hessen and with its excellent transport links via road, air (Frankfurt is one of Europe's major passenger airports) and rail will be a natural hub for getting around during the World Cup in Germany.
World Cup distances
In terms of its proximity to other World Cup 2006 venues, it is less than 200 miles by road to six of the other host cities and less than 250 to nine. Only Hamburg (317 miles away) and Berlin (341) are further away from Frankfurt.
If you're driving to Frankfurt for a match, the ground is easy to access, as it is just off the A3 motorway to the south of the city. For directions from the motorway to the stadium see our 'City centre to stadium' page.
The German autobahn network provides excellent links to the other World Cup venues.
