City
Frankfurt by rail

Frankfurt 'Hauptbahnhof' (main station) is the main rail hub in the Rhine/Main region and, along with Leipzig station, one of the largest railways stations in Europe.  In addition to this main station in the very heart of the city, you may also want to check out the Fernbahnhof (long distance station) adjacent to the airport.

Below the mainline station there are also stations for suburban trains (S-Bahn) and the underground (U-Bahn).

Location
Frankfurt main station is located just to the west (walking distance) of the area of central Frankfurt in which you'll find most of the city's main sights.  It is also surrounded by numerous (many inexpensive) hotels.  The stadium is outside of the city centre, to the south, and best reached from the station by public transport (see also our City centre to stadium page).

Local transport
Frankfurt operates a local public transport network of suburban trains, trams, an underground and buses.  All of the local transport services are operated as part of the RMV (Rhine/Main Transport Union).  The RMV public transport planner
linked to here has an English interface, but does not accept English entries and does not even recognise Commerzbank Arena as the name of the stadium (it still accepts the old name: Waldstadion) .  For help with using it, see our City centre to stadium page.
