The Commerzbank Arena (formerly the Waldstadion) is situated to the south of Frankfurt adjacent to the A3 motorway.  Coming from other parts of Germany, it is therefore very easy to reach by car.  Coming from Frankfurt city centre or the airport, it is also easy to get to by local public transport, taking an S-Bahn suburban train or a tram.

By public transport
From Frankfurt main railway station (Hauptbahnhof, abbreviated as Hbf) take the S8 or S9 suburban trains

Trams go from in front the station ...

(S-Bahn) heading for Kelsterbach, the Rüsselsheim Opelwerk, Mainz or Wiesbaden.  Get out at the 'Stadion' stop (takes 6 mins.).

Special trams
On match days, special trams (the no. 21) also run every 3 minutes from in front of
the main station to the 'Stadion' (stadium) tram stop.

See map on our 'Stadium gallery' page for the location of the Stadion stops (the S-Bahn stop was formerly called Sportfeld).

From the airport
Take a suburban train (S-Bahn) from the regional train station (Regionalbahnhof) within the airport complex.  Take
either the S8 heading for Hanau, or the S9 heading for 'Offenbach Ost'.  Get out at the 'Stadion' stop.

... and arrive at the 'Stadion' tram stop
The Rhine/Main local public transport region
Your match day ticket covers travel on all modes of local transport operated by the Rhine/Main Transport Union (the RMV).  This covers a large area including, for instance, the towns of Wiesbaden, Mainz, Offenbach and Darmstadt as well as Frankfurt.  Match tickets generally cover travel on the RMV network from four hours before kick-off and for a similar period after the final whistle (check your ticket for precise details).  The Rhine/Main regional transport network's journey planner is in both German and English.  However, the English version needs some German input!  So, here are a few tips.

Using the RMV journey planner
Open the Rhine/Main regional transport network's journey planner and select 'Journey planner'.  You'll then see a screen asking you to enter details of where you want to travel from and to.  In the 'From' field, enter the town, e.g. Frankfurt.  From the drop-down list select 'Stop'.  If you are travelling from the main railway station, enter 'Hbf' (as shown below).  This is the abbreviation for Hauptbahnhof (main railway station).  If you want journey details from the airport, enter 'Flughafen'.

In the 'To' field, enter 'Frankfurt' again as the town, select 'Stop' from the drop-down list and then enter 'Stadion' as your destination stop.

By car
In general, follow the A3 or A5 towards Frankfurt.  Then follow signs showing a football.  More specifically:
