The Olympic park to the north of the city centre was the stage for the 20th summer games in 1972. Munich's old airport was an ideal site to be regenerated by staging the Olympics and after Munich was awarded the games in 1966, the area was turned into an impressive sporting parkland.

New Munich landmarks The tent-like roof structures and the Olympic stadium and tower have long since become landmarks of the new Munich, and the area is worth a look at any time - even though there's no football played there any more since Bayern and 1860 moved to the Allianz Arena. |
|
Stadium tours You can take a number of different tours around the Olympic Stadium - and even go up on the roof and abseil down onto the pitch! The abseiling tour costs €40, while ground level tours range from €5-7 (all 2005 prices).
Opening times The stadium is open from 9am-6pm (except when events are on). The park is open 24/7 and the tower is open from 9am to midnight, adult admission €4.

Viewing platforms and revolving restaurant Near the top of the tower there are enclosed and open-air viewing platforms at a height of 190m and a revolving restaurant just a few metres lower down (restaurant open from 11am daily).

World Cup fan park There will be added reason to come here during the World Cup as the Olympic complex will act as Munich's official fan park.
