Part F: Fast food

Kebabs

With over 3 million Turks in Germany, you can be pretty much guaranteed a superb kebab wherever you go.  You’ll also find they’re a fair bit cheaper than in England, as there is so much competition between the different kebab shops. One of the most useful phrases for the World Cup: “Döner komplett bitte”. That’s everything, salad, sauce, meat, bread, the lot! 

If you fancy a change, or something for the lady, then you could always try a lahmacun, which is a Turkish pizza bread they wrap the kebab meat in, and tastes particularly good with Feta cheese.

Sausage, ketchup and curry powder

The Germans are famous for their sausages, and every region has its own speciality, or ways in which they cook them.  Especially if you're in Berlin - or practically anywhere else for that matter - give Currywurst a try, you wont have had anything like it before and you wont ever want to go back! 

The Thüringer Bratwurst is as much a crowd pleaser as a Steven Gerrard 40-yard pass, whereas the Bockwurst is more of your no frills defensive midfield break up the play sort of sausage - what you see is what you get.
