Berlin fan survey continued...

What is the typical thing to  drink in the region?

Sören
: There are four types of beer in Berlin: Schultheiss, Berliner Kindl, Berliner Bürgerbräu and Berliner Pilsener.  There are also a few smaller breweries, and quite a lot of brands of schnapps from Berlin too (e.g. 'Mampe halb und halb', 'Wurzelpeter' etc.)

Markus: "Berliner Weisse mit Schuss" - that's a special type of Berlin beer, which is served with a twist of red (raspberry) or green (woodruff) syrup!

Alex: Beer, Berliner Weisse

Andrea: Berliner Weisse.

Gunnar: Beer!  In Berlin alone there are 30 different varieties.  Almost every district has its own beer.  You should definitely find yourself a typical corner pub (preferably in Spandau or Charlottenberg) to get a feel of 'old Berlin' flair!

Pepsi-Peppy: Beer right next to the ground.

Joël: Berliner Kindl Jubiläums Pils (Berliner Kindl Anniversary Pils)

What is the typical thing to eat in the region?

Sören: Typcial to Berlin are: Currywurst (a bratwurst with curry sauce and spicy ketchup), Eisbein (a joint of meat coated in fat) and Bulettes (meat balls made of mince).

Markus: You have to try a Berlin "Currywurst" at least once!

Alex: Currywurst, donner kebab, falafel (fried patties).

Andrea: Berlin Currywurst.

Gunnar: Currywurst is a must!  Berlin is the only place where the sausage is deep-fried and not grilled.  Very fatty and very tasty!  Königsberger Klopse mit Kartoffeln (Königsberg meatballs and potato) is aslo a tasty old Berlin dish.  As Berlin has become very multicultural, a Turkish Döner Kebap (donner kebab) or Arab Schawarma can also be highly recommended.

Pepsi-Peppy: Currywurst right next to the ground.

Joël: Bratwurst, Krakauer (a long, grilled sausage), Bulettes (meat balls made of mince), Currywurst.
