The fan liaison officer in Kaiserslautern passed on our questionnaire to several of the Red Devils' fans clubs.

Below and on the following pages are the responses received to date.

Where's the best place to go for a drink before the game?  Which are the five best pubs near the ground?

Dieter: On the second tier of the north stand there's a big bar with room for 1,500 to 2,000 people.  Otherwise, there are lots of pubs between the railway station and the city centre (about 1km from the ground).

Which are the best pubs in the city centre for meeting other fans and chatting about football?

Dieter: There are lots of pubs around a large square in the old town area.

Where do fans meet to celebrate after a win?

Dieter: Around the stadium, and in the pubs around the square mentioned above.

Where do fans meet after a defeat?

Dieter: See above

Where's a cheap place to stay overnight?

Dieter: In the youth hostels or inns around Kaiserslautern.  If you don't mind driving a bit further out of town, our fan club here in Gauersheim will help you find somewhere (betzihart@gmx.de).

Other than your own, which do you rate as the three best World Cup grounds in Germany?

Dieter: Berlin, Munich, Gelsenkirchen

What tips have you got for the best things to eat and drink at half-time?

Dieter: There are lots of tasty snacks for sale (bratwurst, rissoles, 'Saumagen' [literally 'sow's stomach', it's a local speciality!! - Ed.], pizza etc.), alcohol-free beer, wine and other drinks.

Apart from football, what else is there interesting to see or do in the area?

Dieter: The Donnersberg (687m), the Deutsche Weinstrasse (German Wine Road), the Pfälzer Wald (Palatinate Forest), the Dinosaur Park, Holiday Park, 2 breweries and lots more besides.
